Good morning, my dudes. And welcome back to the living in sunshine podcast. I am so excited and grateful that you were tuning in for another brand new episode. And we are in a brand new month which means it’s time for a brand new theme. In the month of June which Hello summer God bless we’re here we are going to be talking about joy and what joyful living actually looks like. And in today’s new episode, I’m going to give you a small mindset switch that is going to make you feel way more joyful every single day. And it’s not even going to cost you any money. Hallelujah. Things are too expensive as it is. So I’m giving you a free small mindset shift that you can make literally today as soon as you’re done listening to this episode, so that way you can feel more joyful every single day that you wake up in the morning. But before we dive in to today’s episode, I wanted to let you know of this incredible resource that I have created and linked in the description down below for you. And it is the 30 days to Joy Journal. Now if you are someone who is truly looking to uplevel, your joy journey, your journey to feeling joyful every single day, you need to grab this journal, it’s 30 days with daily prompts. It’s a digital journal that you can also print off and it is a respond to the question style journal. So if you’ve ever seen like the five minute journal, or the the what are they called, like the destroy this journal journals. It’s very similar to that where each day I give you a new prompt that will help you to feel and find and see joy every single day for 30 days. So like I said, I’m going to link that journal down below in the show notes. And if you decide to grab it, post it to social media, take a screenshot and post it let me know that you did. And I hope you love it. Okay, so tell me if this sounds like you, okay, this is going to be a really good gauge if you are someone who feels as if you need to have more joy in your life. Okay, so tell me this sounds like you, you oftentimes feel like you can’t catch a break. Or maybe like things are always hard. Or even when things are good. They could be better, right? And those of you who feel this know that this is you Right? Like you just recognize it. Oh my God, everything always feels so hard or so resistant. Things never go my way. Why can’t things ever be easy? Yada, yada, yada, right? So tell me if that’s you. Next thing, you will go Deza literal days without feeling a sense of joy, or fulfillment, or you can’t pinpoint the last time that you felt like this. So if you’re sitting there, you’re listening to this in your car or while you’re going to the bathroom or you’re you know, playing with your kids on the playground or whatever. You take a moment to reflect and you think down. I can’t remember the last time I felt the sense of joy in the last week, is that you? Maybe this is you. Joy feels like a fleeting thing. Like you feel it one moment, but it’s gone the next. Right. And I feel like a lot of us will resonate with that last point because joy can be very fleeting. Joy can be something that we feel one moment, but it’s gone. The next I was listening to a podcast episode that had Dr. Jody Carrington on it. She’s an incredible human. And she said that most times people think and believe that fear is the most vulnerable emotion, when in reality, the true most vulnerable emotion that we can feel is joy. Because it’s fleeting, because it’s something that we have to be present to and aware of, and in tune with to be able to metaphorically hang on to it. Right. So if any of those things have have sounded like you are you have felt that way before. I have a small mindset shift that I want you to do. Okay, I have your answer. Like I said, it’s super small. And it’s going to be one of those things that once you flip that switch, you will feel joyful every day, and make Joy a consistent feeling. Are you ready for the switch? The switch that you need to make is this you need to start noticing The small things, those small moments that we so often miss, because we aren’t present to them, we aren’t aware of them. Because we have our face and our phones, we have things going on in our ears, we have people talking to us, we’re always consuming something, whether it’s a meal, or it’s media, we are always consuming something. And when we are always consuming things, we fail to notice the small things. Sometimes we’re moving literally so fast throughout our days, whether, you know, it’s an actual feeling of like, running through your day, or your day is just so full of appointments, and to dues and tasks and people talking to you all these things, right, we literally don’t have the mental bandwidth to slow down, and notice the small things. But the small things, the small moments, those small things that make you smile, those are so packed with joy. And it’s so sad, because when we realize that, we realize how much joy we miss every single day, only because we aren’t noticing them, right. And with joy. And noticing these small things is that it’s that small shift, it doesn’t take that much for you to be able to notice them. All it takes is for you to slow down and start to notice those things. Put a finger down. If any of these things have been or sound like you, you haven’t been able to take action on the idea or dream that you have. Because you aren’t able to determine what the right first move was. You currently feel stuck in your head about what to prioritize in life or in your business. So that way you can get to your next major milestone, you thought to yourself, I wish I had someone just to talk to you who will listen to my words, and give me some guidance. If you put a finger down for any of these things, then girl, we need to have a chat because you don’t need to feel like this forever. Actually, I can promise you that you can totally get past these feelings, and an hour or less with one clarity call with me. What’s a clarity call you ask? Well, it’s a one hour action packed zoom coaching call with me where you bring your burning questions. And we work together to get them answered. Whether you’re wanting to map out the launch of your next big business offer, or wanting to get around and over those mindset hurdles that are standing in the way from you turning your dreams into reality. This coaching call is for you. Grab all the details that you need and book your own clarity call today for yourself via the link in the shownotes. If you’re unsure if a clarity call is for you, feel free to connect with me via email or over on Instagram. And let’s chat about it. Clarity, excitement, and most importantly, joy are right on the other side of one conversation with me and I can’t wait to help you get there. And I even did some research on this podcast episode because I love to backup what I talk about with science when I can. And so I actually did some searching some Google searching on the impact of noticing the small things. And psychology studies have shown that when we start to notice the small things, we actually start to develop a deeper meaning to life and feel a higher sense of joy and appreciation for life. Right? But you might be wondering, what are these small things that you’re talking about? I’m talking about that small moment when a stranger holds the door open for you at the coffee shop. Or when you are looking out your office window, and you see someone drop off their spouse and they say goodbye to each other and they give each other a goodbye kiss. And you notice that joy. I’m talking about when you are on the playground on recess duty. If you’re a teacher, and you see one of your students help another student get up when they fall down. Those are small moments. Those are the small moments that are so filled with joy, that when you become in tune with them, you will start to feel more joy on the daily, but you first have to get into tune with them. And the way that you get in tune with joy is by slowing down. This might look like slowing down the pace in which you talk to someone. This might look like slowing down and implementing a daily habit of going for a walk where it’s just you and you alone. You’re not scrolling, you’re not listening to a podcast, you’re just walking. It might also look like creating space in your daily schedule to sit in a moment of quiet. We have to quiet our brains down to allow them to slow down. And when we quiet our minds, we quiet our brains and we slow down we’re able to more easily notice those small things. And like I said, this is such a small mindset shift. It’s such a small act that really does create a larger impact on your life. Because when you Do this. And when you consistently tune in to the small moments, those small moments of joy, you will start to feel them more and more often, it’s almost like when you find change on the ground, and you put it in a jar, and you put it in a jar and you put it in a jar, it’s that small daily deposit into your jar that over time, your jars over filling with coins, it’s the same thing with joy. And even if you only find one small moment to seek and get joy from a day, think about the compound effect of that 365 small moments of joy and a year is better than none. All because you took the time to slow down and pay attention. All because you took the action in the intentional decision, you made that intentional decision to go for a walk and put your phone away, or say yes to going out with a friend and not sat on your phone the entire time, or get up a little bit earlier and went and sat outside on your porch while the sun came up. Right? Those small moments. And the other thing with this you guys, is when you start to do it intentionally, and you are aware of keeping your eyes open to those small moments over time. It doesn’t need to be something that you practice, it just is something that you do, right. And I know this, because I do this every single day. This used to be something that I had to practice, this used to be something that I would have to remind myself, okay, Maddie, she goes through your day, slow down, pay attention, look up from your phone every now and then give your brain a moment of peace and quiet and pay attention. Look around what do you see, it used to be a practice, it used to be something I had to do. But now it’s all instinct, it’s all natural behavior, because I practiced it. And I got good at it. And I got consistent at it. And now at the end of the day, I can very easily point out 34567 10 things, small moments that brought me joy. And so if you want to know how I feel joyful like this almost every single day, right, we all have our bad days, I do want to recognize that. It’s because I do this. It’s because I made that small mindset shift. I’ve encouraged and I’ve worked to slow myself down to turn my dial down when I know that I need to, and become in tune with the natural joys around me. And that’s what you can do. You can decide to make that small mindset shift today, start to implement this practice. And in a year from now, it won’t need to be a practice that you think about. It’s just something that you do. So like I said, if you are someone who said yes to any of my questions at the start of this, this is your homework this week, slow down, tune in to the natural joys. Notice the small things, appreciate the small things and ask yourself why does this lovely cup of coffee bring me joy? Why does this afternoon walk with my spouse or my best friend or my dog bring me joy? Why does watching my neighbor, do whatever my neighbor’s doing? Right? They can be reading on their porch that makes me happy because it I see that it makes them happy, right? Why are these things making you joy reflect on them. Ask yourself those questions, you’re allowed to talk to yourself. But watch over time how your daily Joy intake starts to increase. When you do decide to implement this change. I want you to take note of it and I want you to track it, it could be on a piece of paper, a sticky note on your phone. And then after a few weeks of doing it, send me a message on Instagram, post it to your stories encourage other people to do it. Joy does not have to be a fleeting thing. Joy can be an emotion that you feel every single day. As soon as you open up your eyes and you get out of bed. Joy is something that you can feel throughout your whole day, so long as you are in tune with it. My friends, that is all I have for you today on this episode of The Living in sunshine podcast.
