Maddy 0:08 Welcome to the living in sunshine podcast if you don’t know who I am, my name is Maddy and I am so excited to have you tuning in to our weekly podcast episodes, where we chat all the things from tips and tricks to funny stories from my life that have helped me to truly live in the sunshine. In this space, we are all about encouraging, inspiring and giving you the tough love that you need to hear sometimes to realize that you are totally made for more than what you currently have in life, and that you hold the power to make the changes that you need to level up and live your best self. So buckle up grab some water and let’s get into it. Good morning. Good morning, my dude cutie girl Bessie, girl, whatever you want to be called by me. Welcome back to the living in sunshine podcast. I am so happy you are here right now. Before we get started, I wanted to ask you if you haven’t yet already to go leave the show a rating or review. That way you can be entered into this giveaway once we hit 50 reviews. Okay, so I am not going to dilly dally anymore. Before we get into this episode, because last week, I totally did. And I’m not going to do this week for you, I promise, we are going to dive right in my friends all month long, we are talking about energy. If you are wanting to increase or protect or boost or whatever your energy, you need to go back and listen to the first two episodes of the month. And today I am giving you five different ways to boost your energy when you just cannot you know those days where you’re just like, don’t look at me, don’t touch me. Don’t think about me. Don’t even breathe by me because I just cannot deal with other people. I’m tired. I’m cranky, I’m just having a day. And I need to be left alone. You know those days? But sometimes we have those days. I know I do. At least we all have those days when we still need to get stuff done. And it’s like, how can I get myself to get my ish done. If I just cannot like a woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I don’t want to do anything. But I have these things that have to get done. What am I going to do, I’m going to tell you what you’re going to do. And you’re gonna get five things to do when this comes up in your life, because I’m 99% certain that it will. So thing that number one that you can do to boost your energy, even when you cannot do anything is to recognize where your head and your heart is at and honor it. You know, this beautiful trendy word that I hear so often. Maybe you do too on Instagram, this word is called grace, right? Give yourself grace. This is that thing This is that time to give yourself the grace and give yourself space to realize and to recognize where your current mindset and heart set as I like to say is at in honor it. Okay? You need to be aware of where you’re at before you can start to move from that place. And that’s true within any part of life that you were in. You need to recognize where you’re at before you can get going to where you want to be. Okay. And that is thing number one that you need to do when you want to boost your energy is to recognize where you’re at. And also why right pinpoint why do I feel like this? Why am I so tired? Why am I cranky? Why am I grouchy, right? When you recognize where, and you understand why you’ll be able to take intentional action to move from that space, if you don’t want to stay in that space for the rest of your day. So thing number two that you can do to boost your energy when you’re just having a day where you just cannot do anything is to decide how you want to proceed. So it just kind of mentioned this at the tail end of number one. But you need to decide where you want to go from here and how you want to proceed. So do you want to just have a day where you’re just grouchy or tired? Or I don’t know sleepy? You’re just off right? Like do you just want to sit in that feeling? Or do you want to change it and here’s the thing. Both are fine. If you just want to have a day, have a day, there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve talked about this before, I’ve made an Instagram real because I talked about all my stories, so many of you resonated, I call these sad days, days where you’re just kind of feeling maybe a little bit overwhelmed or sad or just off, you’re not at your normal pace of life, you’re allowed to have those days. And here’s the other thing to go go along with that permission. You don’t need to justify it to anyone, you don’t need to explain what’s wrong, you don’t need to have a reason for feeling the way that you feel. You’re allowed to just feel that way. And when you’re having one of these days, you can truly decide how you want to proceed. Do you just want to have that day? Or do you want to actively do things to to change the projection of that day, and no matter which one you choose, no matter which path you walk down, I want you to know that they’re both okay, you’re allowed to choose either and be okay with that. There’s nothing wrong with it, okay. But that is thing number two, if you want to just have that day, you’re just gonna have that day. If you’re like, No, I want to get stuff done, I need to get I need to, I need to get my you know, my day together, I need to turn this day around, you’re gonna go down that path. But whichever one you choose is totally fine. So if you choose that, you want to turn your day around, and you want to try to make it a great day. And you don’t want to sit in that space. Thing number three that you can do is mentally reset with a walk, a meditation, or a stretch. Now I feel as if movement is such a great medicine, when we are having kind of a funky day, right? Like when we’re just not feeling like ourselves. Movement is the medicine that cures this issue. And again, this movement can can look like whatever you want it to be, it could be like a hardcore hit workout or crazy CrossFit class. Or, if you’re more in my boat, and you’d like to do low impact things. It could be a walk a meditation or stretch, I have found that both do really really great things for my mindset to help me to reset and move on with my day in a better space than where I started at. So pick what you want to do. It could be over your lunch break. If you’re already at work, you kind of having a crummy day, it could be something that you sign up for after work. Like if you’re a teacher, you sign up for like a yoga class after school. It could be something that you just do in the morning when you first wake up and you’re like, oh my god, I kind of feel like crap today. I need to go push play and workout. It could be that as well. But I have found time and time again, that any kind of movement is the medicine the mental medicine that I need to reset and finish in a better space than before I push play on that movement. And this is something that I talked about in episode 79. So last week, is to drink some gosh darn water. My dude, you’re probably dehydrated. I find that like 90% of the time that I have a headache, or I feel like a tension headache, or I just kind of feel like crap. It’s because my insides are like shriveled up and turning into dust because I haven’t had enough water. It’s like that episode of SpongeBob where Patrick and SpongeBob get trapped in Sandy’s like air dome and they start to like shrivel up. That’s what’s happening. That’s what’s happening to me when I haven’t had enough water. So if you want to get more energy, and just get a boost of energy, commit that day and honestly like the rest of your life that should be something you do every single day like no matter how you’re feeling, you should be drinking enough water but like if you’re really not feeling it Drink more water, you need to drink more water. The more water you have in your body, the more your bodily systems operate at an optimal level, your pooper, your your urinary tract, your digestive tract, your brain is functioning, all of those things function better when you are properly hydrated. And the other thing that happens when you drink more water is you are welcoming in more oxygen into your body, which helps your brain to operate at a higher function as well. So just on a biological natural level with doing minimal effort other than drinking water, you will start to have more energy because water is like the thing that our body needs to operate at an optimal level. So go drink some water if you currently feel a little crummy, go drink some water, and then go drink some more because you probably need more than you think. I’m going to take a sip of water right now actually. Delicious. All right. Let’s go ahead and dive in to thing that number five. So thing number five might sound a little hokey. Okay, but hang on, hang in, hang in with me, hang on there, don’t go anywhere. Don’t turn off the episode, unless you’re gonna go read a review, then it’s okay. Thing Number five is to picture the kind of day that you want to have, and then work to make it happen. AKA, work with the power of visualization to have a great day. Now visualization is something that I use all the time in my own life. But you might also use without even recognizing that you’re using it right? How many times a day do you daydream about a trip, or a life or a project or a person? That’s visualization. Like literally, that is a form of visualization, the kind of visualization that I want you to use in this scenario, this scenario Have you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, you woke up late, you’re feeling frantic, bla, bla, bla, all those things. The form of visualization I want you to use isn’t intentional form of visualization, where you close your eyes, and you picture the kind of day that you want to have. Because here’s the truth. If you can picture it in your brain, you can make it happen. And that’s true for any situation in life. If you can picture it in your brain, you can make it happen. The same is true for designing and having the kind of day that you want. So if you woke up on the wrong side of life, or you woke up late, or your spouse did something that annoyed you or you stepped in dog barf on the way out the door, whatever it might be, take 30 seconds up to a minute, or longer if you have longer, I mean, honestly, sitting in as long as you want doesn’t really matter. Close your eyes, and start to picture the kind of day that you want. And then as you go throughout your day, work to make that day happen. So if in your visualization, you visualize yourself sitting alone, let’s say you’re a teacher, because I know I have a lot of teachers who listen or parents or whatever. Let’s say that in your visualization, you’re eating lunch, and it’s really quiet and you’re by yourself and you’re using it as a quiet moment to yourself, actually do that over your lunch break. Maybe you visualize exercising after work or going for a walk with your dog or your spouse, once you get home. Actually do that when the time comes. The reason this helps you to boost your energy, just this visualization part is it helps you to set the intention of where you’re going to have the energy and spend the energy that you need to have to create that day that you just visualize to yourself. Does that make sense? So thing number five is to practice and use the power of visualization, to picture the kind of day that you want and have intentional effort and work to make it happen for yourself. And there you go, my friend, five things that you can do to boost your energy when you’re just having a day a day where you just can’t do it. Because we all have those days even me I 100% of those days. And sometimes those days line up with days where things still need to get done and sitting in that kind of grouchy state just isn’t going to cut it. Okay, so try these five things out.
