In this space, we are all about encouraging, inspiring and giving you the tough love that you need to hear sometimes to realize that you are totally made for more than what you currently have in life, and that you hold the power to make the changes that you need to level up and live your best self. So buckle up, grab some water, and let’s get into it. Hello, hello, and Happy Wednesday. Welcome back to another episode of The Living in sunshine podcast. This is the last podcast episode my friends for the year of 2022. And before we get too much further, let me just say this because I know I didn’t say it last week. Merry Christmas to anyone who celebrates anyone who recognizes it. Whether you are like a church going Christian or you’re like me, and you just kind of say you’re a Christian, but you really only celebrate Christmas that is me. However you celebrate at whatever length or volume that you celebrate, and Merry Christmas, I hope you had such a happy holiday. And happy new year. By the time I come back in another week. It will be after the first of January and I hope you guys have a safe and fine Happy New Years. Um, I’m not sure what we’re going to be doing at the point of recording this episode. I’ll let you in on a secret. It is November 13 when I’m recording this episode, so it is like six full weeks away from when this podcast episode is going to go live. But if you’ve been following me on Instagram, which I’m sure there will probably be a clear answer there. My husband and I are in the process of moving. So for our New Year’s Eve plans, it’s probably going to be hopefully packing up our house and like bracing for a move across the country. But we’ll see I don’t know go follow me on Instagram to see exactly what I’m up to on New Year’s because it’s never anything super exciting. We usually like watch a movie and go to bed by like 1030 and wake up the next day and have the day off because it’s a holiday but Happy New Year’s Merry Christmas all those in between things. I hope you guys have had such a great holiday season and are ready for such a fantastic new year. Now this episode is one of my favorites to record because it is a kind of a like a reflection and like a check in point for myself where I share with you my big vision for living in sunshine in the new year. And 2022 In my opinion was the first year that I like genuinely conceived and started living in sunshine, and started to run it as a full time business. And I wanted to do this episode in two parts. Well, it’s going to be one episode, but there’s going to be two parts of the episode if that makes sense. The first part I want to kind of go over just like rocket like fire rapid fire Wow words, hello, rapid fire, go through the goals that I set for myself for 2022. And let you guys know if I made them happen or not. And then the second half, I want to share with you kind of my big goals and a big vision for living in sunshine going into 2023 I love when other people who own businesses or starting a business do these types of episodes to sort of share the truth and the reality of setting goals and whether or not you actually 100% achieve them. So let’s go ahead and dive right into it. I had one set of goals. So transparency moment, I had one set of goals for 2022 At the start of the year. And in April, I really had to really change my goals and pivot in in what I was working towards because between the end of 2021 and April, truly a lot of my focus and a lot of what I had been working on had completely changed, had had shifted, what I was working on changed, and that’s okay. Sometimes we start a year and we go into a new year thinking I’m going to do this, this, this and this and that’s going to be my big focus for the new year. And then the year happens and things change and life happens right? And we have to pivot and grow and adjust you know course correct as we go. And that’s 100% what I did. So I’ll share with you my goals at the beginning of the year tbh I haven’t made actually I’ve only made one of these things happen. And then I will share with you my new business goals that I set for April so I had this big plan this big goal for my business to launch my course the on your vision course and I talked about this last last week and last week’s episode, and I had a really big goal of hitting $10,000 In that course I wanted to make 10,000 Are we from that course. And that did not happen at all. And it was actually one of those things that my initial plan was to price that course at $197. And I thought at the time that I set that goal, that that was really reasonable and that I was going to make it happen, that did not happen. It just, it just didn’t happen. And that’s okay. The other goal that I had at the very beginning of the year was, I was going to launch a second course, which was going to be a group coaching style course called the living in sunshine method. And it was going to be six weeks, it was going to be a group coaching style course where I took you through six weeks of, of growth and mindset work and all this stuff. And I love the idea of it. I’m never, this is not me saying I’m never going to do this, but I just did not do it in 2022. And I had a revenue goal with that. And that didn’t happen. Um, one thing that I didn’t make happen that was on my original goals list for 2022 was hitting 250 people on my email list. My email list has been something that I have been really working on growing and focusing on and providing value through all year long. As a business owner, whether you are interested in running a business or not, an email list is a huge part of your business. It is super, super important. And this year, I was really focused in on growing that list. And I’m super excited to share that at the point of recording this episode. I am at 283 people on my email list, which is pretty much starting from scratch. I think I started the year, like under 20 people on my email list. So that kind of growth in a year is huge. I’m super proud of that number. And I’m really glad that I that I achieved that goal. Okay, other things that we set as goals. So in case you don’t know I have multiple streams of income. I have multiple streams of businesses and things that I do. I have a full time virtual assistant business that I started at the beginning of the year and I love I have a TPT store teachers pay teacher’s shop. I have an Etsy store. And I also have living in sunshine and living in sunshine and calculates my membership it encapsulate encapsulate, oh my goodness, courses, master classes, digital resources, all of that kind of good stuff. Okay. So a few goals that I hit this year within my virtual assistant business was growing and scaling my virtual business virtual assistant business to a consistent $5,000 Plus month, and I started doing this consistently in July. And in the month of November, or I’m sorry, in what comes before November, October, I actually had my first $6,000 month, which is huge. I’m so grateful for that. I also hit my goal of having at least 10 net consistent clients, which is something I’m also super proud of Instagram, I had a goal to hit 5000 followers, I have not hit that goal yet Instagram is a slow burn. And honestly, I’m not ashamed that I have the follower count that I do. I just didn’t hit that goal. And it’s something that I’m still working on the podcast, I have to grow the podcast to 50 reviews. I don’t know if I’m going to hit this one. We’re so close. We need less than 10 reviews at the point of recording this podcast episode. So if you haven’t yet left a review, please please, please go do so we’re so close. I think we’re at like 51 or 50, or I’m sorry, 42 or 43. So please go give it a review. So we can hit this goal. So I can add a little green checkmark emoji. Another goal for the podcast was 10,000 downloads. We did manage to hit that in September, and I am so grateful for it. For podcasts in case you don’t know, reviews and downloads are really right now the only two forms of measurement of success in the podcasting realm. There’s it’s still so new of a platform where it’s kind of hard to judge the success of a podcast outside of those two numbers. So just know that every single time you hit follow or subscribe on a podcast or you leave a review, it really does impact that show in such a deep way. And the podcast host is super grateful for your time and your energy. So I had a few goals for my TPT store. I only hit one. I had a goal of having a $500 month on TPT earning $500 That whole for the for the entire month. And I did make that happen in September, which I’m super excited about. I have not hit that number again since then. But that’s okay. I have a goal of having four of the specific units that I sell that didn’t happen. Have 100 followers on TPT that didn’t happen and then hit 50 reviews. That didn’t happen either. But honestly a lot of these TPT goals did not happen because Teachers Pay Teachers and running my TPT store just wasn’t a huge focus for me. It just it wasn’t something that I spent A lot of time on, it was something that I didn’t really prioritize. And so I’m not surprised that these goals didn’t happen, because as I’ve said, over and over, both on the podcast and on Instagram and my membership, if you don’t put the work towards your goals, they’re not going to happen, right? You can’t just manifest them or put them on a vision board and expect them to happen. You have to meet that with action, and intentional action. And I didn’t do that with TPT. So I’m not super disappointed that these things didn’t happen, I would love to be able to say, I made all these things happen, but they didn’t happen. And that’s okay. And then finally, for my business of living in sunshine, my little baby that I officially kicked off at the beginning of the year, I had three big goals. And I’m so excited and so proud to share that I made all three of these goals happen. I had the goal of doing three talks for groups or companies or businesses. And I did that I spoke on two different memberships and I corporate kind of masterclass style call this year, which is super cool to say, I have the goal that I’ve already said, of growing my email list to 250 people, I managed to do that. And I also have the goal to have $10,000 within my business checking account by the end of the year, and I have managed to do that and surpass that number. And one thing to just know about numbers is, whenever you hear any business owner share specific numbers, especially when it comes to money, I want you to know that like, just because a business has that money, doesn’t mean that person has that money. Okay? That has been a huge learning curve for myself this year in terms of managing my business money and recognizing that, that’s my business’s money, and it’s not my money. Just because I share the numbers that I do doesn’t mean that like, I personally as Maddie, for I’m like rolling in all this cash, because that’s not the truth. There’s a huge difference between business wealth and personal wealth. And I just really want to make that clear right here and right now. And just keep that transparency there. So those were all of my goals that I either managed to succeed in, in 2020. To or to not, again, data, right, we see these things as data points, how can we improve? What can we celebrate? Where can we go from here? Now that we have this data, how can we use it to improve on ourselves, our businesses, our lives, our relationships going forward, right. So now let’s shift into part two of this podcast episode, right? What is my big vision for 2023? Well, I’m going to share with you so sorry to interrupt the show my dude but I have some exciting news I need to share with you right now. Are you ready? I am so excited to share it that the sunshine squat monthly membership has officially launched to everyone. I designed this membership to help all of my happy hustlers, Joy seekers dream chasers and purpose pursuers have a space where they can feel supported, encouraged and inspired every single day to get after their most ideal life. Included in this membership are two coaching calls led by myself daily check ins to help you stay on track and accountable in your joy seeking weekly q&a opportunities for me to give you tailored coaching and guidance in your journey. And the HIePRO text thread is coming back for members only. And the best part about this, it’s only $20 a month. Literally, I made this membership for you, the girl who is ready to take control of her life, live a life of joy and obsession, and also help you get connected with other like minded women who want the same exact thing that you do. So go jump into the membership. Now you can find all of the information that you need and the link to join us in the show notes. Or you can go find more information over on my Instagram, which is at living the letter N sunshine. And I cannot wait to see you in there. First and foremost, let’s talk about the sunshine squad community. So the sunshine squat community is my online community membership that I launched back in July of 2022. And right now we have about 12 or 1512 or 13 people in there. And I love them. I’m obsessed with them. And I want to grow our membership to at least 50 incredible women by the end of the year. That to me is such a sign of a solid community and membership to where I can support more people in that more tailored way which is a huge goal and huge part of the vision for living in sunshine is to support and mentor and guide women to live a life that they love. And to me the best place for me to do that right now is in that membership. So my big vision for the membership by the end of the year is to have 50 Total members of the sunshine squad and if you have been wanting to join the sunshine squad, you need to go head to my Instagram right now because I am running a super amazing deal on the membership. Send me a message over on Instagram asked me about the end of your sale for the sunshine squad community because it’s really good. And if you have been considering joining, now’s the time to do so the next sort of big goal that I have for living in sunshine is to launch for Sunshine sessions, which are sort of two components in one resource, a live masterclass and a mini course, and have at least 20 people go to each of those, which would be really exciting to me, I also have the plan to launch a course for my virtual assistant business. So sort of streamline some passive income for that. And then I have an overarching goal of $10,000 of revenue from all of my courses and masterclasses by the end of of 2023. And I know again, that I’m sharing a lot of like hard numbers. But I do that because I want you to see that like, you don’t need to set a goal of $100,000 in your business in the first year. For it to be successful. Like that’s just sometimes not attainable. I’m all about dreaming big, but also dreaming realistically. And that to me is a realistic goal of $10,000. From those sorts of digital courses that I currently have to offer. Now, for the podcast, I would love to be able to say that we have 20,000 downloads, so doubling our download count 75 written reviews, and I have a pretty big goal to be on 10 other podcasts, so do 10 Guest podcasting interviews. So if you are a podcaster, and you and I align in terms of what we share what we talked about, feel free to reach out, I’d love to be on your podcast, if you do interviews, interviews are actually something I plan on implementing within my own show over the next year. So if you want to be a guest on my show, feel free to let me know. And then just a few more just because I don’t want to, I don’t know make this podcast episode super long, I have some big goals for Instagram, I want to hit that 6.5k follower count, I would love to be able to double my email list, I would love to continue to increase my virtual assistant income, and then other personal goals because I think personal goals are really, really, really important is to by the end of the year, be completely debt free. And by debt free. Debt Free to me means no outstanding loans or credit card bills, or things of that nature. So my student loans, I would really love to pay those off, I would really love to pay off our vet bills that we currently have our home, obviously, hopefully we’ll have sold. So that will be paid off a whole lot of other things, right. So debt free, I am trying to set up and I really want to set up a 401k for myself, and contribute Yes, I am married. So it might sound a little bit bizarre that I want to set up a 401 K for myself, but I’m very much wanting to be self sustaining. And that way, I just want to be able to say that I am fully responsible for my own retirement. And I’m not dependent on someone else. So that’s really the goal of mine. And it’s actually something that Lucas is super aligned with as well. And that I really want to get to the point of where I don’t have to work on Sundays. And again, to those of you who never work on Sundays, that might not mean too too much to you. But as a business owner, a lot of my time is spent on Sundays doing work. And right now in my current season of life, I’m fine with that. But by the end of the year, I have my eyes set on weekends being mine and weekends being whatever I want them to be, like I mentioned, we’re currently moving and we’re planning on moving to be closer to family and will be within an hour’s drive of my mom, I would really like to be able to spend my weekends hanging out with my mom, like going for a walk or going to the beach or whatever. So those are just some of my goals for the year. I know I just spent a lot of info at you. But here’s the thing, you guys, my big vision for for 2023 for living in sunshine is expansion is growth. And I was having a conversation with a friend of mine. And I said to her, I already have my year for my business picked out, or I have my word of the year for my business picked out and that word is expansion. I really want to continue to grow in the spaces that I’m already growing. And I want to be able to do that. So I can then do other things like in person events, and reaching more people. And I’d really love to get to the point of where I can offer things like scholarships and free mentorships to women in need to our courses or, or my mentors or my membership or these in person retreats, right. Like I would really like to get to that to be able to get to that point. And really I want to get to the point of where I feel like my business is bringing in a sustainable income to where I can support my family a little bit more. And that starts with me, supporting you and serving you and doing all of these things, all of these kind of hard concrete, concrete numbers I just gave you. Those will come as a result from me continuing to do what I do, and showing up for you and serving You right where you’re at as you are, where you are in the ways that you need it. And I just want you to know that I have so many super exciting things in the in the works and on my plan and my planner, so many big things coming. All things I truly believe you will benefit from and I hope that you stick around with me through 2023 to watch those things come true. And with that, my friend we wrap up another year and I cannot believe that this is the last episode of 2023 I hope you have again a safe happy, healthy, fun, New Year’s Eve. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do which really just limits you to like staying home and not going out at all because I wouldn’t go out at all. Maybe if I had friends to go out with I would but just me and Lucas probably not. Anyway, my friends. I’ll see you again next week after the New Year. I hope you have a great rest of your week and happy holidays. And until next time, I am sending you all the sunshine, good vibes. And I hope you make it a great day.
